“Vineyard Deer”
watercolor & pencil drawing
This year’s harvest was one of the best grape harvests in many years.
We were considering different occupations otherwise! Gold mining, fishing, selling everything and moving to Peru…
The past three years’ harvests have been fraught with problems in Sonoma County vineyards, from insects, mildew and low grape prices to inclement weather.
Ah, the life of a farmer…you gotta love it!
{Or quit. Farming ain’t for sissies.}
An abundance of juicy pinot filling the bins with deep blue, voluptuous plumpness.

Dear Linda Adelaide.
“…and suddenly one day she appeared, carrying as luggage story-pictures. And picture-stories of thriving business, happy farmers, beautiful crops, and God’s abundance…finally. But did He have to wait so long?
Love your background image–kinda square, would you say?–grin! Seriously, REALLY NICE, Linda! And the photos which tell most everything, for which you are happy these days.
God bless you and all the Peeps of the vineyard. Stay safe. Hope prices stay up.
Love and PEACE, Linda.

Hi Steve,
Yes, that is rather square, isn’t it? Thank you so much, kind sir.. xxx
Yes, I have not been around for awhile. I am glad you enjoyed this post. I thought of you and your background when writing it…knowing you were once of a farming mindset! Many moons ago
Ahhh…….G-d’s perfect plan. Sometimes that one just irritates the by-jeepers outta me. LOL But darn that it doesn’t seem to unravel that way.
Awesome photos–and celebratory words. I’m just thrilled for you and yours that it was a bountiful harvest. We had three years of record crops. We had another this year–just a record loss.
Sadly, the corn looks the size of popcorn. *sigh* Ah well, G-d’s perfect plan, eh?
We plant, we harvest, we remain grateful that we can.
Yup–such is the life of a farmer.
Wow are those amazing photos. They make my heart happy.
Hi sweet Mel,
Yes, unravel it does… whether it be a plan or otherwise, things go as they will. It’s a lesson in acceptance!! quite…
Thanks for enjoying, Mel. It’s sad to read about the corn. Do you grow it or is it in your area? What a terrible loss those poor families take. We are happy to have just this ONE good year! It’s been quite some time…
Thanks for not forgetting me xoxo
Now that’s what I call grapes. So reminds me of living in the south of France as a child and picking grapes. $1 for each wooden barrel filled! So glad the harvest was plentiful for you.
Hi Joss,
Yum for the south of France…even if it was picking grapes for a buck a barrel. I picked prunes for 25cents a crate but somehow santa rosa doesn’t sound half as good as the south of france! thanks for popping by, Joss. xoxo
Good evening dearest Linda~
I was soooooooo happy to see that you had posted today, I just had to run over and have a read!
“This year’s harvest was one of the best grape harvests in many years.”
*doing the happy dance*
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!! I am beyond happy for you because I know for the past few years you’ve had so many challenges with your grapes; due to weather. And I especially know how challenging it is with Pinot Noir grapes.
Stunning slideshow! And that last photo of the Pinot grapes is simply STUNNING! The colors you captured in that photo are just amazing!
Again, I celebrate your bountiful harvest this year, dear friend!
(((((( You ))))))
Sharing much ‘good energy’ and xoxoxooxxooxoxxoxo
hi ron,
i am still not online nearly as much as i would like but do we ever get what we want? so i am here now and that’s fine too. i shall come by next time for your latest post. i am so far behind my favorite blog readings. growing pinot is challenging UNLESS you have just the right climate and ground, which we actually do. but the market is what makes farming possible and we can’t do much about that. glad you like my photos, ron, thank you sweets. xoxox
thanks for running right over.
Lovely…you have capture the heart and soul of harvest time…
hi rebekah and thank you for your kind comment. i do appreciate it. i will come visit you soon. xxx
I go to you blog to see the colours. You have an amazing way of capturing the senses. The gift of your artistic endeavors is a source of inspiration to all who stop by for a visit…
Dearest Linda, I was so happy to receive your post. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Felt like I shared in it…thank you so much!!!, love, Linda
hi linda, thank you for your sweet words. glad my words allowed you a “taste” of the grape!
xx
good golly, miss molly! i’ll be thinking of you every time i shop for wine, and I’ll be looking for Sonoma county chardonay….sadly, can’t do the red – migraine trigger. and the new background is as delicious as the wine and grapes! it looks pieced and quilted. i’m so pleased that you’ve had a bountiful harvest…. i know there have been some less fine years recently. Rest up and take good care of you. we want you to be well enough to do more of these delightful posts soon. hugs.
I’m so glad to have it confirmed that the harvest was a good one this year. The pictures of the grapes are amazing but best of all is getting to see this painting again. You do have a marvelously coherent vision and a way of making everything real and glowing with life’s abundance.
Feel good, my friend, and may you be well enough and relaxed enough soon to grant us more heavenly vistas.
xoxoxo
Beautiful post, Linda. Oh, those luscious grapes!
thanks friends for your comments. apologies I have not been able to respond due to back problems. thus no posts nor painting either. ah life…. take it as it comes because it’s going to.
I plan to return when able. much love to you!
sending compassion to all those suffering in hurricane Sandys path…..

Having read of your troubled years for the past few, I am so glad this one is a bumper crop. I hope you get good prices – I recall your frustration with buyers last year, as well.
What an amazingly beautiful place you inhabit! And I love the watercolor of the vineyard deer. Such delicious colors.
steve, we did have ONE good year this past harvest. fingers crossed it lasts awhile but the weather is very strange lately. it worries us. we have now got some good wineries buying from us again and wanting contracts we don’t want as the price is going up on chardonnay. they’d, of course, like to lock us in… nay nay..
glad you like the little watercolor.
