A lesson in NOT being neat and tidy about your veggies if you think they’re over the hill and want to toss them out with the weeds.
{Aside: I am not neat and tidy about anything so this was no problem for me.}
These photos are of my leeks gone to seed and then exploding into these wonderful flowers!
Love the pink one!

Such a lovely surprise, don’t you agree?
Below is the beginning of the explosion…
A baby leek flower!

  1. Fabulous! I love the one just popping out of it’s “pod,” but the pink is truly surprising! This after I just took out the last of my mizuna and hung and the stalks with seed pods to save the seeds (I couldn’t leave them, though, they get mildewy here). I did let some things stay, though, but not with so much dramatic effect! I learned that arugula flowers are edible, for instance (and delicious!) Here’s to nice surprises!

    Who ever would have guessed these beauties were produced by leeks? I think being untidy and a bit lazy can be a very beneficial project in itself.

    I hope you’re feeling well and are nursing fond memories.

    The neighbor has onions that go to seed, but WOW–talk about a head full of flowers. The emerging one is fantastic, but the pink is just out of this world!
    Suddenly I wish I had leeks to toss to the side. LOL
    Here’s hoping your taking time to just decompress from that lovely time with the grands.
