Leonora Carrington ~ Artist. Writer. Period.

Leonora Carrington on making art, seeing art and being who you are. A fascinating glimpse into the mind of a complex artist of her time and beyond it. Apologies I didn’t have the energy to get all the titles on these works but if the link is followed the information is easily discovered.

Enjoy… Please!

Whilst I visit a FIFTH dentist in the ridiculous attempt to find someone who actually GETS me, I wanted to share this fabulous video. Carrington is even more “difficult”, shall we say? Is that possible…?
Five dentists?
Aren’t we all particular about who/what gets INside our mouths?
Makes perfect sense to me!

  1. beautiful impressions!
may you feel light & joyful
one calm breath at a time 🙂

  2. Wonderful video and your post is a great tribute to her and her work. I had not heard of her and really enjoyed finding out about her and her art. Thanks for sharing. Wish you a wonderful day! 🙂

    • thanks Janell… She didn’t mince words, something I found fascinating given her age, her time and the fact that she’s speaking to her cousin…. clearly the woman was a tad irritating to Carrington and I can’t say as I blame her. I agree with Susan below. 🙂

  3. I was already familiar with Carrington’s work but hadn’t seen the video. Her niece came off sounding like something of an idiot, don’t you think? I mean really – how can anyone but an idiot ask an artist what they were thinking about when they painted a picture. It’s one thing if that’s information the artist feels like sharing, but the question is rude.

I’m sorry to hear about the extra dentists. Hopefully, this will all end soon.
    xoxo

    • I hadn’t seen the video either and thought it fascinating. I do agree with you that the cousin asking her the inane questions was a tad disconnected with whom/what she was asking and “trying” to talk about. I felt like cringing at a couple of her stupid comments! I think it does show that Carrington didn’t suffer fools, not that I blame her! 😀

Yes…. dentists are not my favorite people but suppose it’s one of those necessary evils in life. I’m doing OK, dear heart. Hoping you have a beautiful weekend!

  4. Happy Mothers Day Linda – #5 geez oh man! I enjoyed learning about Leonora is, perhaps the cousin was a bit odd right? Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

    • Same to you, Mary… I’m looking forward to a nice empty quiet day and tiramisu that is also GF if my daughter can get that feat done. It’s a biggie…. 🙂

The cousin is very odd… She seems to have no real grip of whom she’s talking to or what she’s talking about for that matter. I guess we can feel bad for her … I WAS fascinated by Carrington. She overcame much and was an amazing force of nature and artist too. 🙂
