Pema Chodron, Living + Dying

An inspiring human being… I can hardly believe she’s 80 years young!

  4. The Shambala Centre is across the street from us and just a few houses down. I can see it from my bedroom window. Earlier this year we saw Pema Chodron (who must have been visiting Halifax) just outside the place on her way back from a walk. No, I still haven’t been there myself. One day last spring I decided it was time to visit. When I arrived at the door I found it was locked. I took it as a sign.

I have a little framed piece from my dearest friend who died five years ago:

Come to the edge, he said.
    They said, we are afraid.
Come to the edge he said.
    They came.
    He pushed them.
    And they flew.

    • I read your comment last night and this poem still stuns me tonight. It is very profound and similar to something Trungpa would say- he was pema’s root teacher.

The bad thing is we’ve fallen off the cliff.
The good thing is there is no ground.
