Please Enjoy! I do!!

vineyard-oak Almost Harvest + Digging a Big Hole (8/27/2016) -  The correct term is “Farm Pond”. That’s 20 acre feet of water (about 300x400x20feet deep) used on a farm! It looks like we’re digging to China and surrounding it with the Great Wall! Despite the drought going on five years, it still took the County almost 2 years to grant our permits. Then we had […]
chicken shy Japanese Maple, Sunshine + Rat Barn, Oh My (7/26/2016) -   Yea… Country livin’ at it’s best. If you look closely…
flying-beagle Sophie the Stomper Beagle (7/29/2015) - I just had to share this sweet little photo of “Stomper”. Don’t let that sweet demeanor fool you. She’s a beagle beast and tears around the yard, chasing every mole, vole, field mouse and gopher she can. She has also taken down three baby squirrels who didn’t know better and kept wandering into her lair. […]
Vineyard Pruning Vineyard Photos of the Day (3/15/2015) -

Pruning Never Ends Farmer was busy with his chain saw and hedge trimmer, pruning some huge grass plants. He'd made quick work of one as tall as him when suddenly he spied something that sent him squealing back on his heels!

Beagle Sophie Thinks Weird Caftan Sophie Beagle Beast (9/25/2014) -

Evidence: Small tail hanging from tightly-closed mouth. Decided otherwise.

fawn at my back door I was distracted and irritated. BUSY. Struggling with the fruitless task of forcing a long desk to fit into the mud room at the foot of the stairs leading up to my studio. Frustrated and tired, I glanced outside to the fields beyond. There lay sleeping a not-so-little fawn right outside the backdoor.

Beagle Sophie is Wiley Beagle Investigates Caftan (6/17/2014) -

Beagle Sophie Thinks Weird Caftan Sophie thought perhaps I was hiding something interesting under there somewhere but.... It seemed just a little out of the ordinary. However... Never underestimate the curious nature of a beagle. Sophie will always follow her nose without hesitation!

ladelaide goes to town-ephemera

A very long time ago, in a land far far away, Linda, a beautiful blond city girl who cares too much about fashion and really doesn't know what she's getting into, marries a lucky cattle rancher, who doesn't know either.

Some years later, as the lucky rancher leaves to check the cows one morning, he says to his wife as she is slowly rendering lard from a pig's head...

Deer Family Passing Through Eucalyptus Grove Watercolor Wednesday (3/5/2014) -

courtyard-deer_countrywomanpaints.com © I had fun painting these visitors to my garden a few years ago. They came into the courtyard to enjoy my newly blooming roses as if they owned the place! Sophie would be very indignant at this LARGE intrusion on her territory.

bird nest Yes, I collect these little gems. Most I keep and put back out in spring. Yesterday I found one in the garage on top of the garage door opener! Talk about disturbing the peace!
