Roses!

My newest rose~lust to share with all rose lovers reading this, whether gardeners or not. Isn’t Boscobel a beauty? And available at my semi-local nursery NOW! I’ll take 3 to start!

Boscobel~Austin rose
“Boscobel”

The Summer Day

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean- the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down- who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.

I don’t know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what else should I have done?

Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?

WOW, what beautiful pictures and such vibrant colors. I just love roses, too. Especially pink ones, the new one you added is just stunning! Your garden must smell wonderful. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

Thanks Janell, I love the pink ones too. And some reds but am more picky with them. They must ALL have a delicious fragrance! Otherwise they’re an awful lot of work! 😉

Are all these beauties in your garden? Treasures! A feast to the eye and the scent – you are lucky having them close to you.

Thank you! I’m happy you like them! Being sensitive to everything under the sun, they are a special blessing in my life and the fragrance is so calming.

Oh my God! These are gorgeous!!! How wonderful that you have these in your view : ) Do they bloom year round? My rugosas took a real beating with our horrible Chicago winter. Some are almost dead. I have a climber I think it’s called Don Juan, thornless, pink and beautifully cinnamon scented… I almost cried because it took a terrible beating. But it is coming back… Yay!

I’m so glad they’re coming back! I live in rose heaven here excepting a bit of black spot and aphids! They do some blooming around the calendar but mostly the usual times. 😉 let’s hope for a mild season to come for you.

Your garden looks absolutely luxuriant. I can only imagine how sweet it would be to sit in the warm sunshine of your courtyard and bask in the colors and aromas. Think of me next time you sit with your cup of tea.

Would you believe that around here we have daffodils and forsythia in bloom now – and, finally, real dandelions in the grass.

You and i would have such fun puttering all day around here. you’re a country girl from waaaay back! 😉

I’m thrilled, absolutely thrilled that you are finally beginning to see some flower color. I am also amazed that the daffs are just now peeking thru but not saying outloud as i don’t want to jinx it. Grow daffs, forsythia and all spring blooms! oh yes, including the lowly but cheery yellow dandies! 😀

The roses are beautiful. I lost one of my rose bushes because of our terrible winter weather and another is just starting to leaf out. I’ll have to enjoy your photos as I wait for summer blossoms.

      hi again, karen!
so many have lost their beloved flowers, especially roses, to the past(i hope…..) horrendous winter! i truly feel for you and realized years ago i couldn’t live anywhere that snow lived too. i’m a native ca. girl and suppose i’m here to stay! 😉

as you can read in susan’s comment above yours, and she’s just north of you in canada, she’s just beginning to enjoy spring. oy, i don’t know how anyone stands that but there are those who must have seasons, thinking we don’t have anything close here, and we don’t. ok with me tho….!

enjoy YOUR dandies & daffs! i’m happy to see you again.
